UiT The Arctic University of Norway has awarded Norinnova the contract to provide commercialisation services for the next four years. The agreement continues a long-standing collaboration between the parties and lays the foundation for increased efforts in research-based innovation, entrepreneurship and business development in the region.
Through the commercialisation of research, new knowledge can be transformed into products, services and companies that address important societal challenges and create economic value. The new agreement strengthens efforts in innovation and entrepreneurship at UiT, while renewing Norinnova’s responsibility to help develop research-based ideas further towards the market.
Northern Norway has significant potential for research-based business development, and both UiT and Norinnova aim to contribute to increased value creation in the region through more research-based start-ups.

Over many years, we have built a close and successful collaboration, and we look forward to developing it further in the years ahead. At the same time, we see a university undergoing very positive development, with growing ambitions and a clearly strengthened focus on innovation and societal impact. For many years, UiT has been an important source of research, expertise and innovation in Northern Norway. Collaboration between research communities, industry, investors and commercialisation organisations is essential to ensure that research results benefit society.
Rector of UiT, Dag Rune Olsen, emphasises the importance of the collaboration:
